Donativum's champion daddy, Cadeaux Genereux, was twice an English champion sprinter and France's Champion Three-Year-Old Colt in 1988. Donativum got a good start on following in his father's hoofsteps by willingly running down11 opponents in the second ever Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf event.
Maram was sired by Sahm, who raced for two years in England and Ireland, as well as in North America. Maram's first dam, American Dreamer raced for four years. As a breeder, American Dreamer produced only a stillborn foal in 2005 and again in 2007, but successfully delivered a healthy Maram in between (2006).
