Irish Colt Wins First BC Marathon; Third Female Ever Wins Mile

Irish filly Goldikova, with Northern Dancer in her great grandparents house, became the third female to win the BC Mile. An Irish colt romped in the first BC Marathon.

Muhannak, the Irish-bred 2008 Breeders' Cup Marathon winner, comes from the Native Dancer sire bloodline, and a female line that traces to Seattle Slew. His sire, Chester House, raced primarily in England.

Goldikova, also Irish-bred, became the third ever female winner of the BC Mile. She has Northern Dancer and Riverman on both sides of her bloodlines. Goldikova's sire, Anabaa was a French Champion Older Male.

Chester House was sired by Mr. Prospector b.1970 and out of Toussand b.1989; Mr. Prospector was sired by Raise a Native b.1961 and out of Gold Digger b.1962. Mr. Prospector's sire and dam were Native Dancer and Raise You. Gold Digger's sire and dam were Nashua and Sequence.

Toussand was sired by El Gran Senor b.1981 and out of Image of Reality b.1976. El Gran Senor's sire and dam were Northern Dancer and Sex Appeal. Image of Reality's sire and dam were In Reality and Edee's Image.

Opera (GB) was sired by Forzando b.1981 and out of Flattering b.1986; Forzando was sired by Formidable b.1975 and out of Princely Maid b.1967. Formidable's sire and dam were Forli and Native Partner. Princely Maid's sire and dam were King's Troop and Moss Maid.

Flattering was sired by Nodouble b.1965 and out of Slippery b.1981. Nodouble's sire and dam were Noholme II and Abla-Jay. Slippery's sire and dam were Seattle Slew and Strike Oil.

Anabaa was sired by Danzig b.1977 and out of Balbonella b.1984; Danzig was sired by Northern Dancer b.1961 and out of Pas de Nom b.1968. Northern Dancer's sire and dam were Nearctic and Natalma. Pas de Nom's sire and dam were Admiral's Voyage and Petitioner.

Balbonella was sired by Gay Mecene b.1975 and out of Bamieres b.1978. Gay Mecene's sire and dam were Vaguely Noble and Gay Missile. Bamieres's sire and dam were Riverman and Bergamasque.

Born Gold was sired by Blushing Groom b.1974 and out of Riviere D'or b.1985; Blushing Groom was sired by Red God b.1954 and out of Runaway Bride b.1962. Red God's sire and dam were Nasrullah and Spring Run. Runaway Bride's sire and dam were Wild Risk and Aimee.

Riviere D'or was sired by Lyphard b.1969 and out of Gold River b.1977. Lyphard's sire and dam were Northern Dancer and Goofed. Gold River's sire and dam were Riverman and Glaneuse.
